Under the supervision and direction of the Golf Course and Grounds Manager, the Turf Equipment Technician will perform his/her duties to maintain and repair all equipment related to the day to day operation of the golf course and grounds to ensure all equipment performs at a satisfactory level. The incumbent is expected to have the required training and knowledge related to golf equipment maintenance to ensure they can perform the job safely and efficiently.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Have a complete understanding of the operating principles, maintenance, diagnostic and repair procedures for gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and on-board computer systems.
- Must be familiar with all aspects of reel mower maintenance and repair including sharpening and proper set-up procedures.
- Ensure that all turf maintenance and repair equipment in the Club is performing safely and correctly
- Performs daily inspection to maintain a safe and functional work environment for members, guest and staff by inspecting all related tools and diagnostic equipment
- Design and implement a proactive preventative maintenance program for entire equipment fleet to reduce the possibility of equipment or maintenance malfunction to occur
- Be familiar with electronic and manual parts and service information, acquisition systems of the club to ensure proper procedures are applied
- Order supplies, materials and parts when necessary to ensure the department is efficiently equipped and stocked to perform any maintenance work when required
- Keep an accurate and complete record on purchasing, inventory, maintenance and service procedures to provide reference for the managers when needed
- Ensure all repairs and operational activities complies with all applicable laws and regulations (ex. Environmental, Health and Safety, etc.)
- Provide the Golf Course and Grounds Manager with advice in regards to maintaining golf equipment’s and other repair/maintenance operations
- Assist the management team with annual training of staff with regards to the safe and recommended operating procedures for all equipment to ensure all staff are properly trained and equipped to perform their job s6afely
- Assist in developing budget projections for the equipment fleet by recommending equipment purchases and operational changes
- Attends update seminars and participates in related training opportunities.
- Performs all assigned duties while ensuring the work performed maintains within a designated budget as specified by the Golf Course and Grounds Manager
- Train Assistant Turf Technician (Apprentice) to OCOT training standards.
- Performs any additional duties as specified by the Golf Course and Grounds Manager

- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and the Club’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the club.
- Report to your manager/supervisor any known equipment or protective device that may be dangerous, missing or defective.
- Report any known workplace hazard or violation of the Act or regulations to your manager/supervisor.
- Report all accidents, illness, or “near miss” incidents to your manager/supervisor immediately.
- Do not remove or disable any protective device
- Handle hazardous substances according to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System regulations.
- Work safely and not use or operate any equipment in a way that may endanger any worker.
- Do not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, running or rough and boisterous conducts which may jeopardize their safety of the safety and well-being of others.

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS/ QUALIFICATION REQUIRED**:

- Completion of High School Education (Grade 12) or equivalent is required
- Degree or Certificate and/or Training at a technical school is required; small engine certificate preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the field; preferably at a private golf course
- Must be able to perform stand-by duty, call-back, and emergency work as required
- Good communication skills with a good working knowledge of written and spoken English
- Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining composure and performance standards during busy peak periods
- Must be able to perform medium-heavy lifting and mild strenuous activity
- Is professional, mannerly, co-operative and outwardly friendly (team-oriented).
- Able to work shifts - days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Punctual and reliable

**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**:

- Drivers Licenses with good driving record is required
- Small Engine Certificate or equivalent
