- Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Cancer Care Unit, the role of Regional Program Manager is to provide innovative leadership and direction regarding the development and implementation of Ontario Health’s Indigenous Strategies, including the Indigenous Cancer Strategy and the Indigenous Health Equity and Coordination Strategies. The Regional Program Manager is a unique role and will work with a diverse group of external and internal partners to provide innovative leadership to ensure that Indigenous people in Ontario have access to equitable and culturally relevant healthcare programs and services. The role is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners, better coordinating Indigenous health equity work across Ontario Health and the Regions, and leading the development of provincial and regional policies, projects and strategies with and for Indigenous communities in Ontario within timeline deliverables and budget. The Regional Program Manager will work with Ontario Health leadership and portfolios, Ontario Health Regional leadership and teams, Ontario Health Teams, Regional Cancer Programs, and other provincial and federal agencies, along with Indigenous Leadership and communities at the federal, provincial and regional level.
- Here is what you will be doing:
- Relationship Management and Facilitation Skills- Lead engagement and act as a primary point of contact for coordination with provincial and regional First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous organizations to understand needs and support a collaborative approach to the design, development and implementation of provincial and regional strategies and activities-
- Lead the development of formalized Relationship Protocols and ensure Ontario Health accountability to First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous partners through the development of Annual Reports as well as the creation of sustainable engagement processes and reporting structures, as directed by Indigenous partners.-
- Function as a key relationship holder with both internal and external OH stakeholders; establish and maintain nuanced and unique relationships within the regions and Indigenous communities through Indigenous partners, regional cancer centres, various RVPs, etc.-
- Hold key relationship management skills in order to effectively progress work with internal and external stakeholders through strong and clear communication and problem-solving skills.-
- Prepare and present regular updates on the progress, including budget and timelines of the Indigenous Strategies and initiatives.-
- Guide and inform engagement between Ontario Health business units and First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous organizations and communities. This includes ensuring business units are properly prepared to meet with Indigenous partners and have direction on culturally appropriate protocols for engagement.-
- Lead the development and implementation of strategy related to Regional and Community Indigenous Cancer Plans in partnership with Regional Cancer Programs and local First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous partners, ensuring the Indigenous partners have an ongoing and sustainable voice in the delivery of cancer services.-
- Participate in the development of departmental and business unit goals and objective that flow out of the strategy developed.-
- Engage with internal and external partners to collaborate on shared priorities that align with provincial First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous partners.-
- Support and coordinate meetings with Indigenous Navigators, Regional Indigenous Cancer Leads and Indigenous Project Coordinators with ad hoc requests.- Leadership and Project Management- Effectively communicate the strategic objectives within Ontario Health, provincial and regional agencies, and with Indigenous partners.-
- Resolve issues by providing innovative, creative and integrated solutions that will achieve quality improvements and improve cancer outcomes with and for Indigenous communities.-
- In managing projects, works in a self-directed manner as defined within the overall context of Ontario Health’s Strategies, while ensuring the Manager is connected to the work.-
- Manages engagement risk and address challenging issues, managing scope of the projects, and taking early action to resolve problems.-
- Responsible for meeting objectives and achieving long-term desired results in all areas of responsibility.-
- Supports the management of the operations budget including monitoring/tracking of activities and timelines.- Subject Matter Expertise- Ability and understanding to incorporate Indigenous cultural values and perspectives into program designs and implementation with and for Indigenous people.-
- Ensure that existing and emerging policies and programs align with relevant strategies and reflect the needs of Indige
