**Volunteer Position: Youth Mentor (Ages 7-13)**

**About Us**:The Open Doors is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and strengthening communities in rural Alberta. We provide a range of programs and services aimed at promoting mental wellness, child development, social connections, and community support.
**Position Summary**:We are seeking caring and dedicated individuals to join our team as Youth Mentors for children aged 7 to 13. The Youth Mentor will provide guidance, support, and positive role modeling to help children develop social skills, build self-esteem, and achieve their full potential.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Engage with children in one-on-one or group settings to provide mentoring and support
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, such as games, crafts, and educational projects
- Listen actively to children's concerns and provide guidance and encouragement
- Collaborate with program staff to assess the needs of each child and develop personalized mentoring plans
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating empathy, respect, and compassion

**Qualifications**:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience and empathy when working with children
- Ability to set boundaries and maintain confidentiality
- Previous experience working with children is an asset
- A willingness to undergo a Criminal Record Check /Vulnerable Sector Check /Child Intervention Record Check
**Time Commitment**:Flexible, approximately 5-10 hours per week. This position may involve evening or weekend hours to accommodate program schedules.
