**Position**:Maintenance Assistant

**Location**: Calgary, AB

Reporting to the Residential Building Operations Manager, the Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining areas of the residence facility. This includes the physical building structure, assisting with mechanical, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment. At the same time being in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Our team members are positive and kind individuals who know how to exceed resident expectations while maintaining an exceptional level of hospitality and professionalism.

**Job Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Respond and attend to resident repair requests
- Communicate with residents to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut off valves for equipment and shut offs for buildings
- Maintain maintenance inventory and order parts and supplies as needed
- Display proficiency and above average skills in two or more of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, energy conservation, and/or general building management
- Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g. plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items
- Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties
- Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough clean up of the painting or repair area
- Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work
- Follow all company health & safety and security policies and procedures
- Ensure uniform and personal appearances are clean and professional
- Participate in building coverage by working evenings and weekends

**Qualifications**:

- Works well in fast-paced team environment
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in a Maintenance Assistant role
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Dependable and enthusiastic work ethic
- Positive attitude, outgoing and friendly personality

Pay: $22.50 per hour
