Founded in 1983, Bishop Hamilton Montessori School is a CCMA-accredited, not-for-profit independent school offering a Christian Montessori education to approximately 200 students in the Ottawa area.

**ROLE**:
The role of the Montessori Classroom Assistant, for 0 to 6 year olds, is crucial to a harmonious Montessori Prepared Environment that supports the develops the children’s independence and concentration and allows the Director to fully implement their role. The Director works with her Assistants as a cohesive team to maintain an orderly, beautiful, and joyful classroom. The Assistants observe the children and model calm, courteous behaviour.

- Ability to follow direction with a desire to learn and develop

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assume a non-teaching, supportive role
- Maintain open and regular communication with the Classroom Director
- Reinforce consistent limits with the children
- Model grace and courtesy with adults and children
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the prepared environment
- Assist children as needed with hygiene and toileting, dressing and eating habits
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, in-house professional development and school wide events, contributing to the School Community and spirit

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Accredited Montessori training or ECE certification as asset
- Police Vulnerable Safety Check
- Up to date immunization
- Valid First Aid/CPR
