Maintenance Helper

**Position**: Maintenance Helper
**Status**: Part-Time
**Schedule**: Day shifts
**Home/Location**: Hallowell House, Picton,ON
Hallowell House is seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Helper to support the upkeep of our long-term care facility. In this role, you will assist with general maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning, and ensuring all equipment and spaces are safe and functional.
The Maintenance Helper will be reporting to the Environmental Services Manager.

**Qualifications**:

- Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to read and write the English language.
- Experience in electrical, plumbing, patchwork, painting preferred
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
- Knowledgeable about WHMIS, OH & S
- High School Diploma
- College level trade certificate is an asset

**Responsibilities**:

- Follow the home’s Preventive Maintenance Program as well as the Demand Maintenance Program
- Regularly perform the various tasks described in the programs
- Regularly checking completed maintenance logs in each department/home area of the home
- Complete repairs as necessary including not limited to: Painting, wall repair, small leak, install (toilet, sink, tiling, doors, replace light fixtures, install blinds)
- Check the operation of the mechanical equipment
- Inspect Life Safety equipment and systems
- Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment
- Complete regular maintenance reports
- Complete pre-start up assessments on a new equipment as applicable
- Coordinate annual preventive maintenance checks by contractors; and
- Perform other duties as required
- Must be available for call ins on short notice
- Perform everything pertaining to maintenance including heavy duty related work
