**Opportunity**:
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the coordination and administration of the CRC (Canada Research Chairs) program, ensuring compliance with national CRC standards;
- Managing and supporting the administration of the Research Support Fund (RSF) and SSHRC SIG programs, ensuring funds are allocated effectively;
- Ensuring that research activities comply with Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) regulations and ethical guidelines, including oversight of animal and human ethics reviews;
- Overseeing research security policies and research data management (RDM) practices to ensure compliance with privacy and security standards;
- Reviewing and updating research and creative activity related internal policies and procedures at MacEwan;
- Collaborating with the senior leadership to elevate the research profile of MacEwan University and contribute to the overall tactical direction of the research community;
- Developing and maintaining a framework to help guide researchers in identifying funding opportunities and navigating the submission process for external grants, including Tri-Agency funding;
- Monitoring the effectiveness of grant development strategies, providing feedback and support for continuous improvement in securing external research funding;
- Working with the AVPR and Associate Dean, Research, on execution and measurement of the tactical plan for scholarship that aligns with MacEwan’s strategic vision;
- Collaboratively supporting, sustaining, and growing capacity for EDI in research and creative activities and Indigenous research;
- Enhancing interdisciplinary proposals within and across Faculties/Schools and establish and maintain relationships with key funding agencies and other potential funders;
- Leading and managing the Research Grants Development and Research Ethics teams, fostering a positive and engaged team culture while ensuring effective service delivery;
- Providing strategic leadership to increase research capacity, enhance collaboration across faculties, and support research priorities through policy development and governance;
- Developing and maintaining business operations within the Office of Research Services and ensure alignment with other areas and departments of the University;
- Providing oversight and planning for staff hiring and onboarding, scheduling, compliance with health and safety, professional development planning, and delegation of responsibilities;
- Serving as a delegate for the AVPR in representing MacEwan’s research priorities, capabilities, and opportunities at external events, conferences, and meetings; and
- Advocating for MacEwan’s research agenda to external stakeholders, funding agencies, and policy makers, strengthening the university’s research presence and influence.
