**Your role**
- We are looking for a Video Producer to enrich CBC Radio’s digital storytelling through compelling video and photos. Working under the direction of the Executive Producer, you will produce, shoot and edit material to support CBC’s many network radio news and current affairs programs, including The Current, As It Happens, Ideas and White Coat, Black Art.
- You will work collaboratively with teams and be a resource for them, but also be expected to work independently and pitch original ideas.
- You have experience in a media environment producing high-impact journalistic content on tight deadlines, and are proficient in still photography, broadcast and social video shooting, and editing. You’re well-versed in effective tactics for digital, broadcast and social platforms and their distinct audiences.
- You can switch effortlessly between multiple shooting conditions and styles such as live multi-camera productions, in-studio shoots, Zoom calls, hand-held field productions and iPhone captures for Instagram and TikTok.

**This is a six month temporary position with a strong possibility of renewal.**
**Job responsibilities**- Conceive and develop ideas for visual storytelling including video series and social content, including Instagram and TikTok.-
- Shoot and edit still photos and video.-
- Upload and distribute social video and measure effectiveness.-
- Develop story content including researching, writing and editing written material, and establishing the style, pace, tempo and format of video.-
- Adhere to CBC journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices.-
- Interview host and guests in studio and in the field; prepare questions, treatments and shot lists for others.-
- Perform visual research using archives and stock libraries; upload content to CMS (content management system) and archives.-
- Refresh and improve story headline and body images. Identify and rectify issues with image and video rights, quality, credits, legal or editorial.-
- Perform location surveys and identify special requirements such as audio, lighting, camera angles and production limitations.-
- Book studios and locations required for filming; book freelance shooters and CBC local videographers when required.-
- Ensure that the material produced meets technical and aesthetic requirements for editing.-
- Build and update style guides.-
- Provide technical guidance, expertise and support within the team.-
- Stay informed on changing digital visual trends, practices, platforms and delivery to continually improve CBC’s best practices.-
- Participate in the preparation of digital team objectives.- University or college degree, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of practical and relevant experience in video and photo production.
- Working experience with video, photo and sound equipment such as Sony FS7, Sony A7s3, Canon DSLRs, studio and strobe lighting, shotgun and lav mics, Zoom H6 and Blackmagic production switchers, Vidigo.
- Expert knowledge of media editing tools such as Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition, Lightroom, Camtasia, Wirecast.
- Experience generating online content and using analytics tools to measure impact.
- Experience in visual storytelling with a demonstrated ability to recognize the nuances of a story.
- Ability to identify opportunities for streaming content and reformatting existing video for new platforms.
- A real passion for and understanding of CBC radio current affairs and podcast programming.
- Ability to work effectively to multiple deadlines along with excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work various shifts and overtime, as required.
- Strong sense of creativity, initiative and a high degree of responsibility for the accuracy and quality of work throughout the complete production cycle.-
