The **Nigel Program**is a licensed residential program for adults with complex disabilities. The interdisciplinary team at the Nigel Program provides nursing care, personal care, occupational and physical therapy, social work, dietary services, housekeeping services, and recreational therapy to facilitate active living programs.

**SUMMARY**

Under supervision, carries out cleaning and maintenance duties throughout the Lodge primarily of a more physically-demanding nature or requiring the use of a variety of machines and equipment. Carries out cleaning and maintenance duties such as:

- Cleans walls, woodwork, shelves, ledges, surfaces, windows, stairs, walkways and floors in all areas, by methods such as sweeping, vacuuming, washing, scrubbing, mopping, stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing and polishing.
- Cleans and disinfects toilets, tubs and showers by methods such as washing, wiping and polishing. Replenishes supplies such as soap, paper towels and ABHR.
- Cleans furnishings and fixtures such as chairs, beds, blinds, cupboards, lockers and tables by methods such as dusting, washing, wiping and polishing.
- May clean carpets and upholstered furniture;
- Cleans equipment such as stretchers, tables, commodes, trolleys, carts and wheelchairs by methods such as washing, wiping and including steam cleaning or power washing.
- May strip beds
- Hangs and removes drapes and curtains.
- Collects and disposes of waste material and cleans receptacles, carts and containers.
- Performs a variety of routine inspection and maintenance functions on related equipment and machines such as securing load, cleaning, checking lubricating, topping up fluids and replacing components such as pads, filters, bags and belts as required.
- Uses and handles a variety of cleaning supplies and materials in accordance with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System [WHMIS] regulations. Maintains stock of cleaning supplies and materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Transports and moves furniture and/or equipment manually or by using various aids such as dollies or carts.
- Clears snow from walkways and building entrances as required.
- Ensures a safe and healthy working environment by observing universal precautions and infection prevention and control procedures; removing obvious hazards; reporting faulty equipment, accidents, injuries and near misses; and adhering to and enforcing rules regarding safety.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Completion of Grade 10; preferably supplemented by a vocational school course in janitorial services
- Knowledge of WHMIS and MSD sheets
- Preferably some related experience
- Must be eligible to work with vulnerable adults, under the BC Criminal Records Review program
- Negative TB Screen
- Successful applicant will be required to report vaccination status.

**Job Type**: Part-time
