Summit Water provides Innovative Water Solutions For a Changing World. A dynamic and growing company, we design and manufacture commercial water reuse systems and distribute a broad range of water treatment equipment and pumps. As we continue to grow, we are looking to strengthen our management team with a hands-on, capable Controller.

**Position Summary**:
The Controller will take ownership of the company’s financial operations, including the preparation of quarterly interim financial statements, oversight of the accounting staff, and coordination with our external accounting firm. This is a high-impact role for a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Financial Reporting & Analysis**
- Prepare accurate and timely interim financial statements (monthly and quarterly)
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Provide variance analysis and commentary to the CEO and Board

**Team Leadership**
- Oversee and review the work of the accounting staff (accounts payable, receivable, payroll). Currently there is one clerk.
- Support the professional development of the accounting team

**Month-End and Year-End Close**
- Manage the month-end close process including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Coordinate with the external accounting firm for preparation of year-end financials (Notice to Reader)

**Compliance & Tax**
- Ensure compliance with HST, payroll taxes, WSIB, and other government filings
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies

**Budgeting & Forecasting**
- Assist the CEO in preparing the annual budget and rolling forecasts
- Support financial modeling and strategic planning initiatives

**Process Improvement & Systems**
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Contribute to system upgrades or changes to the accounting platform as needed

**Qualifications**:

- CPA designation (or CPA in progress) strongly preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized business
- Experience in distribution and/or light manufacturing environments is an asset
- Understanding how to leverage AI is an asset
- Solid understanding of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent) and Excel
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently

**Compensation Package**:
**Base Salary**
- Market based comp, depending on experience and qualifications

**Annual Bonus**
- Up to 10% based on individual and company performance

- Full-time, 40 hours/week, with some flexibility in hours and hybrid work
