**Salary**: $2,345.14 to $3,076.28 bi-weekly ($61,208 to $80,290 annually

**Treasury Board and Finance, Edmonton**- Responsible for budget planning, financial management and economic analysis, as well as the administration of tax and revenue programs.

Financial Sector Regulation and Policy (FSRP) is responsible for:

- the regulation and supervision of insurance companies, captive insurance companies, and pension plans registered with the province,
- policy support and analysis for insurance, Alberta pension plans, and the Canada Pension Plan, and
- policy and regulatory oversight and support for Alberta-based financial institutions, including ATB Financial, Alberta credit unions, and loan and trust corporations.

As part of its function, FSRP is responsible for ensuring legislation, regulation and policy meets current and emerging needs of the industries regulated by the division.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Are you ready to shape the future of Alberta’s auto insurance landscape? Join us as a Junior Policy Advisor on the team responsible for insurance policy in Alberta, including property, auto, captives, life and travel insurance. This position will assist in transforming Alberta’s auto insurance to a Care-first model, ensuring enhanced care and treatment for Albertans injured in collisions, while maintaining a fair and competitive insurance market.

This new, permanent role is part of the Insurance Policy Team within the Financial Services Regulation and Policy division. Reporting to the Director, Insurance Policy, you will work on designing and implementing Alberta’s innovative Care-first auto insurance system, set to launch on January 1, 2027. In this dynamic environment, you’ll support and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals, support integrated policy planning, and contribute to the development of legislation and regulations that will redefine auto insurance in our province.
- ** Policy Research and Analysis**:

- Analyze diverse data sources and evaluate trends to develop innovative policy options.
- Prepare research reports, position papers, and briefing documents for decision makers.
- ** Stakeholder Engagement and Communication**:

- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Treasury Board, Communications, and Legal) and external stakeholders (e.g., industry associations, health care professionals, and regulatory bodies).
- Support the development of research or consultation papers, take detailed meeting notes, and ensure clear communication of policy updates.
- ** Information and Process Management**:

- Maintain up-to-date policy information on platforms like SharePoint and provide innovative solutions to streamline information management.
- Support contract management, procurement, and agency governance processes.
- ** Environmental Scanning and Continuous Improvement**:

- Monitor local, provincial, national, and international developments in the insurance industry.
- Identify emerging trends and challenges to inform strategic policy decisions.
- Proactively respond to shifting priorities, flag issues, and suggest “course corrections” to the policy agenda.

**Qualifications**:
A university degree in social sciences, public administration or policy is preferred, no experience required; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
