The Category Assistant, Housewares position is an ideal opportunity for you to further develop your career within the retail sector. Your ability to work with and analyze reports will enable you to monitor store level merchandising and marketing of goods, and provide information and recommendations on specific items/categories/programs to help improve execution of documented strategies and advertising programs. Your recent experience using Microsoft Excel will allow you to manage sales data and inventory levels efficiently and accurately. Interacting with all levels of the organization will come with ease to you as you have strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Category Assistant, Housewares - Key Accountabilities- Recommend and implement assortment plans in accordance with category and vendor strategies to deliver planned sales, gross margin, and inventory turns- Drive customer excitement by initiating and completing preseason and in-season purchases based on OTB needs, in accordance with approved assortment plans- Conduct effective communications with the stores to provide relevant information needed to assist with their purchasing decisions and quantification- Provide information for marketing activities for all commodities to ensure marketing objectives are accurately met- Produce and complete sku and assortment related information as per the timelines detailed in the buying calendar to minimize disruptions in the product lifecycle- Deliver omni-channel assortment to provide a holistic customer experience- Conduct and complete product related activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Category Assistant, Housewares - Knowledge & Skills Requirements- Minimum 3 years retail experience- Proven track record of meeting job objectives- Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative- Able to communicate effectively and influence positively without authority- Passion for retail and customer service

Category Assistant, Housewares - Job Assets- Buying/Category management and/or Merchandise planning experience an asset- Financial acumen an asset- Post-secondary degree/certificate preferred- Understanding of Omni-Channel retail- Proficiency in French- Strong knowledge of MS Office suite of products- JDA & BI experience- Familiarity with a franchise model

Travel Requirements- Some domestic travel required.
