**Summer Digital Archiving Assistant**

**Location**: 11738 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta

**Position Status**: One (1) Full Time (40 hrs per week), Summer Student (April-August)

**Key Responsibilities**
- Research and build a secure online library of digital assets, including images and videos.
- Organize, tag, and sort digital assets.
- Organize and digitalize collected information.
- Create inventories and maintain databases of archival collections.
- Support reference services and provide information on archival materials.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather assets, including historical images and videos.
- Work with the Communications team to identify assets that may be used in current promotions.
- Assist with administration of Otipemisiwak Métis Government Provincial events & programs.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Other duties as required or assigned

- Experience with scanners and other archiving technology.

- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and Métis culture is an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Education in Archival Studies, Library and Information Studies, History Archival Studies, History, or a related field is preferred. Other relevant training and experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role. Volunteer or school experience is considered valid experience.
- Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.

**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
