**Position Information**:
Essential Job Functions:
1. Review all charts (inpatient, daycare, emergency, ambulatory care clinic, chemo and dialysis) noting diagnoses, procedures, resources utilized, and physicians/professionals and services involved
2. Abstract information using 3M software, ensuring completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness to MOHLTC and CIHI deadlines
3. Provide technical support to the Health Record Department
4. Other tasks associated with Coding and Abstracting

Qualifications:

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required
- would be an asset
- Graduate of an approved program for Health Information Management.
- Member in good standing with the Canadian College of Health Information Management
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CA/CCI coding.
- Excellent computer skills are essential.
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of people and operate efficiently with mínimal supervision.
- Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in DAD and NACRS coding.
- Documented commitment to continuing education through inservice, staff meetings and self-motivated learning.
