We have an immediate opening for a Paralegal to assist our team with Collections business. This is an independent contractor role.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Prepare all court documents, pleadings, briefs, settlement agreements and writs
- Arrange for service of documents
- Coordinate with outside lawyers
- Correspond with customers to negotiate payment of outstanding accounts
- Maintain and update internal legal files
- Attend on settlement conferences, motions and trial as required
- Manage own collection portfolio
- Perform administrative tasks and clerical duties as required pertaining to Legal Desk
- Prepare monthly reporting specified by clients
- Review and monitor new and updated laws and regulations

**Requirements**:

- Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience.
- Hold a valid Paralegal License
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for court appearances
- Minimum 1-year Paralegal Experience
- Prior experience with Small Claims Court
- Completion of law clerk certification program or equivalent
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- 3rd Party Commercial Collection Experience is an asset
- Strong negotiation, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
- Strong oral and written communication skills
