**Salary**: $2757.39 to $3604.17 bi-weekly ($71,967.88 - $94,068.84/year)
Public Safety and Emergency Services - responsible for keeping communities safe and secure, upholding a fair and accessible justice system, and ensuring Alberta is prepared for and resilient to the impacts of disasters by working with our partners in law enforcement, justice, health, and social services.
The Police Review Commission (PRC) will be responsible for overseeing the police complaints process for all police services in Alberta and will have approximately 150 staff. Following implementation, the PRC will be at the forefront of leading and supporting police services through a significant change in process and philosophy.
**Role Responsibilities**:
- The Police Review Commission is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven **Community and Commission Liaison** to lead and support our engagement with diverse communities, police commissions and other police oversight bodies, Indigenous organizations, and other key community partners. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Community Connections, this role is central to building trust, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that community voices are reflected in our work.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Stakeholder Engagement**
- Lead and manage engagement with diverse communities and police commissions.
- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with community partners.
- Represent the Police Review Commission at events, ceremonies, and meetings.
- Facilitate transparent communication with complainants and affected families.
- Coordinate logistics for engagement events and CEO visits.
- Maintain stakeholder registries and identify outreach opportunities.
**2. Content Development**
- Develop strategic engagement plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Prepare briefing notes, reports, and presentation materials.
- Create training content on cultural awareness and engagement best practices.
- Draft “What We Heard” reports and other public-facing documents.
**3. Research, Analysis & Advice**
- Provide strategic advice on stakeholder relations and engagement strategies.
- Monitor and analyze community concerns and emerging issues.
- Contribute to policy and training development with a focus on equity and inclusion.
- Stay informed on legislation, cultural protocols, and leading practices.
**4. Leadership**
- Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism principles.
- Act as a liaison between the Police Review Commission and community partners.
- Lead or support cross-jurisdictional committees and working groups.
- Serve as acting manager during absences, as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements**:
- University education in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, Communications or Conflict Resolution PLUS a minimum of 4 years of experience engaging with diverse communities and organizations at various community, leadership and working levels.
**Equivalency**:
- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
**Required**:
- High degree of political acumen and awareness of the political sensitivity of police issues to read and navigate sensitive situations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal and provincial acts and regulations (e.g., _Criminal Code of Canada_, _Police Act_, and related regulations)
