**Salary**: $2757.39 to $3604.17 bi-weekly ($71,967.88 - $94,068.84/year)
Public Safety and Emergency Services - responsible for keeping communities safe and secure, upholding a fair and accessible justice system, and ensuring Alberta is prepared for and resilient to the impacts of disasters by working with our partners in law enforcement, justice, health, and social services.
The Police Review Commission (PRC) will be responsible for overseeing the police complaints process for all police services in Alberta and will have approximately 150 staff. Following implementation, the PRC will be at the forefront of leading and supporting police services through a significant change in process and philosophy.
**Role Responsibilities**:
- The **Police Liaison** plays a vital role in advancing the mandate of the Police Review Commission (PRC) by serving as the primary conduit between the PRC and all municipal and First Nations police services, police commissions, and police associations. This position fosters trust, transparency, and collaboration through effective communication, relationship-building, and operational support.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Communication & Relationship Building**
- Serve as the main point of contact between the PRC and law enforcement stakeholders.
- Lead engagement efforts with police services, commissions, and associations.
- Represent the PRC at conferences and events, providing general information and promoting understanding.
- Build and maintain professional relationships to support cooperative and productive interactions.
- Provide updates to police commissions on complaint trends and organizational developments.
**2. Operational Support**
- Support internal PRC teams in their interactions with police services.
- Communicate policy and procedural changes to external stakeholders.
- Prepare briefing notes, reports, and correspondence for diverse audiences.
- Troubleshoot procedural challenges and support strategic engagement planning.
- Collaborate with Operational Support Services to deliver training and guidance.
- Collect feedback and monitor trends to inform future engagement and policy development.
**3. Information Management & Confidentiality**
- Maintain current knowledge of cases and issues to provide accurate information.
- Handle sensitive data with discretion and ensure confidentiality.
- Assist in integrating case management technologies for secure information sharing.
- Track and organize requests from various stakeholders.
**4. Leadership**
- Exercise sound judgment within established protocols.
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
- Ensure proper maintenance and security of records.
- Deliver assignments in a timely and effective manner.
- Act on behalf of the Director of Resolution during absences, as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements**:
- University education in Arts Sciences or Humanities PLUS a minimum of 4 years of experience.
**Equivalency**:
- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
**Required**:
- Experience working within a law enforcement or police services environment, with a deep understanding of policing practices, police culture, and operational dynamics.
- Experience collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, commissions, and police associations, to address complex issues.
- In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance in the context of police oversight, accountability, and investigations, with a thorough understanding of police policies and procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal and provincial acts and regulations (e.g., _Criminal Code of Canada_, _Police Act_, _Canada Evidence Act_, _Jury Act_, provincial and federal victims of crime legislation, and related regulations), and how they impact policing and oversight processes.
- **Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract.**

- Change management certification or designation.
- Experience managing change and supporting process improvements.
- Ability to tailor content to meet the needs of the audiences, including law enforcement professionals.
