**Area Operations Manager (West Sand and Gravel), Dufferin Aggregates**

**Position Responsibilities**:
Engage and inspire employees owards the establishment and maintenance of a positive safety culture; Ensure OH&S standards and performance objectives/targets are met by developing and maintaining appropriate programs, policies and procedures and providing necessary resources to ensure compliance with the applicable company policies and legislative laws and regulations.
Provide leadership and guidance for site operations and ensure sustainable performance aligned with company objectives and values.
Forecast and manage budgets; Monitor, measure and report on operational issues; Analyze results and initiate appropriate action to achieve or exceed business objectives and targets.
Propose and execute capital expenditures maximizing value to the operation and consistent with a low cost strategy; while maintaining accountability for proposed 'value added' return.
Demonstrate understanding of the key industry trends/conditions and how they will affect the site.
Responsible to ensure site operations are developing and implementing annual mining plans that ensures compliance with environmental standards (PTTW, CofA, etc), MNR license commitments, site plan requirements and local community commitments
Maintain local presence in the community to maintain communications with all local stakeholders.
Maintain a positive company brand by promoting community engagement, participating in external forums such as industry associations, general public associations, and government/regulatory agencies.
Exposure and basic technical and non-technical knowledge in all fundamental aspects of aggregate manufacturing (e.g. quality, finance, operations, HR, maintenance, environmental, AFR, quarry operations, aggregate chemistry).
Proactively establishes and cultivates networks with people across a variety of functions and locations within the organization to maximize best practices and achieve operational excellence.
Actively support and promote the commitment to implement standard best practices, tools, and processes in a high performance/high involvement environment

**Other Related Experiences Required or Preferred**

6-10 years combined management level and construction materials experience
Multi-site experience is desired
Knowledge of ISO Standards and certification process
Foreign language skills and experience in other cultures/working with other cultures a plus
Technical knowledge of aggregate quarry operations, and raw materials and maintenance management

**Educational Criteria**

Bachelors' degree in engineering, sciences, or business preferred; MBA a plus
Must understand both engineering and business principles
