**Your Opportunity**: COVID-19 Testing and contact tracing remain an organizational priority in AHS. Public Health, North Zone, in the Community, Rural and Continuing Care portfolio leads testing for symptomatic and asymptomatic cases at a variety of sites in the community. Our Assessment Centre and "Fast Tracks" in the North Zone have a key role in population health and surveillance through the early identification of disease and prevention of the spread of COVID19. The Community Tester reports to the Managers of Immunization and Rapid Response and works regularly with site Clinical Leads. We are seeking individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds, with a calm/positive approach, skilled in interacting efficiently while testing high volumes of clients. Responsibilities include: prepare for and conduct testing via nasopharyngeal swab and/or throat swabs, for all age groups, with both symptomatic and asymptomatic populations, testing is offered for both ambulatory clients and clients presenting for testing within their vehicles; repetitive data and record management; stand, walk, lift, pull, push, bend and carry during the shift; appropriate use of full Personal Protective Equipment between clients; work across a variety of testing sites and locations in North Zone depending on demand and staff and is also involved in outreach activities to test vulnerable populations. To be able to respond to the evolving/changing needs related to the Covid-19 response, you may be cross-trained to enable reassignment to other Covid-19 response areas such as Contact Tracing and Health Link as the needs arise. **Description**: As a Community Tester, you will support infectious disease testing and prevention from a population health lens. Working as a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will prepare, test clients, document, and finalize tested samples for the lab. Under the guidance of our Medical Officers of Health, you will adhere to AHS documentation guidelines and lab testing policy, procedures, and standards. You will be required to appropriate use full Personal Protective Equipment (masks, gowns, gloves, eye protection) to perform testing. In addition, you will be required to adhere to all AHS Infection, Prevention and Control requirements, guidelines, and practices and to take continued precautions wherever required, including at break and meal times. You may be required to work at various locations as designated, based on need, demand, and changing service locations. Completion of an accredited education program. Ability and professional scope of practice to perform nasopharyngeal and/or throat swabbing. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Active or eligible for registration with applicable regulatory college i.e. College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA), Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT), Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT), Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP), Alberta Dental Association & College (ADA&C), Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA), Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA), Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA), Canadian Medical Association (CMA), College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA), College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA), College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA), College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA), College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) or College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta (CRDHA).
