Start date: June 24 - August 10..There will be training days prior to the start of employment.

Compensation: $250 per day, 7 week contract

Established in 1983, MWS Student Camps has welcomed thousands of young people from more than 50 nations to our camps. From the beginning, we have strived to offer and operate innovative, vibrant, and exciting programmes. Our MWS Toronto Camp is centrally located at the University of Toronto allowing us access to so much the city has to offer and providing our students with a full English language immersion experience.

The Director of Teaching is responsible for the operation of the teaching programme at the MWS Toronto Camps. This includes the safety and supervision of the teaching staff and students during the course of the camp. For this reason the head of teaching must have open communication with respect to planning, discipline and any incidents which occur during the course of the teaching programme at the camps. Our students are divided into 3 sections: Junior 7-10, Intermediate 11-13, and Senior 14-17 and in the classroom, students are divided by age and English language ability. In this position, you will work 6 hours a day (9am - 12pm, and 2pm-5pm) for 5 days of the week. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - Saturday). This position reports to the Camp Office.

The responsibilities of the Teaching Director include the overall management and operation of the teaching staff and the students while in the classrooms. The Teaching Director communicates with the MWS office at all times and makes decisions as necessary to ensure the successful operation of the teaching programme.

The Teaching Director’s duties will include but not limited to:

- Preparation of teaching staff during camp training sessions and pre-camp
- Set up and organization of teacher's office and clean up at the end of the camp season
- General planning of teaching programme, ensuring the teaching staff adhere to their role's expectations, and follow up to ensure the successful operation of their lessons
- Student testing and assignment of students to classes with assistance of teaching staff
- Organization of student evaluations and certificates
- Staff management of all teaching staff, including evaluation of teaching staff
- Accounting for the teaching programme including the submitting of hours worked for staff payrolls
- Communication with the Camp Directors and MWS office regarding operation of teaching programme and liaison between teaching staff and MWS office

Qualifications & Experience:

- BEd or MEd Graduate
- Fluent in English
- Experience in a leadership role/managing a group of people
- Experience in organization, programming, and management of a classroom an asset
- Emerging curriculum experience an asset
- Fluency in other languages is an asset but not required

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
