The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be appointed as Director of the UTSC Psychology Clinic, housed in the (SAMIH) at UTSC. The appointment of Director will be for an initial 5-year term, which may be renewable following a favourable review. The successful candidate will also be affiliated with the , which is housed within the Department of Psychology at UTSC and offers a CPA-accredited graduate program in Clinical Psychology, grounded in the clinical science model. The program integrates scientific research with clinical practice. It fosters a rigorous and supportive training environment focused on evidence-based practice, interpersonal and metacognitive competencies, and collaborative clinical education. Clinic Details and Clinic Director Responsibilities This position is part of a transformative initiative at UTSC, where a new Psychology Clinic will be established within SAMIH, set to open in 2026-27. SAMIH will train future healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, and clinical psychologists—within an integrated, community-focused model of care. As the inaugural Psychology Clinic Director, the successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the clinic’s model of care and supervision, contributing to the development of an innovative, interdisciplinary training environment that supports both graduate education and community mental health. In addition to helping establish the clinic, the Director will oversee the delivery of ethical, evidence-based services by staff and trainees; provide clinical supervision and coordinate training for graduate students in the Canadian Psychological Association accredited Clinical Psychology program; manage clinic operations; support integration between clinical training and academic curricula; contribute to research and program evaluation; and build partnerships across the university and community to enhance service delivery and outreach. Qualifications and Experience Candidates must have earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from a clinical psychology program accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), American Psychological Association (APA), or equivalent by the date of appointment, or shortly thereafter, and must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. The ideal candidate will have clinical training and experience aligned with evidence-based approaches to psychological assessment and intervention. A minimum of three years of experience providing clinical services is required, including experience in clinical supervision of adult clients. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching in degree granting program, including some combination of lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and/or development of online material/lectures. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing . Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities. The successful candidate must also have a demonstrated record of excellence in clinically supervising graduate students and/or other learners. Experience in managing or contributing to the leadership of an outpatient psychology clinic is highly desirable, as is a strong record of collaborative engagement in clinical training, program development, and community partnerships. Evidence of excellence in teaching and clinical supervision and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching and clinical supervision accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of reference.
