The Facilities Maintenance & Engineering department is seeking students for temporary summer employment. Under supervision, the Groundskeeper / Maintenance Worker I performs a variety of semi-skilled building maintenance and grounds keeping duties in accordance with approved practices and procedures. Duties will include performing minor equipment and maintenance duties, maintaining and caring for lawns, flower beds, tree, shrubs, snow removal and cleaning of mechanical rooms / shop areas. This position will be required to work at the Strathcona Community Hospital site. Incumbent must have open availability during the summer for the entire term of employment.

As a Maintenance Worker I, you may perform routine tasks related to grounds keeping and facility maintenance. **Required Qualifications**:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work on a ladder with arms above shoulder height for long periods of time when required. No physical limitations with regards to sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, etc. Must have a cooperative attitude and a willingness to perform routine and repetitive tasks on a continuous basis. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Experience with a variety of groundskeeping and building maintenance tools (including power tools) and equipment used in the maintenance program is required including large, motorized equipment (i.e., snow blowers, mowers, bobcats, graders) is preferred. Computer skills are an asset. Experience working with trades would be a definite asset. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
