**About the Opportunity**:
An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical and Academic Neuropsychiatrist to join the Liaison consultation psychiatry service at the Department of Psychiatry, Dalhousie University and the Central Zone Mental Health and Addiction Program. This is a full time (1.0 FTE) opportunity with time split between a dedicated neuropsychiatry consult service (0.4 FTE), general consultation liaison psychiatry service (0.2 FTE), research (0.35 FTE) and education/leadership (0.05 FTE).
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed and academic neuropsychiatrist consultant with a keen focus on clinical excellence, medical education and leadership to work across mental and physical health in specialist settings, providing clinical leadership in service delivery, research, education and working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team. The Department of Psychiatry’s inter-disciplinary liaison consultation team includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and addiction counselors and provides services at the Halifax Infirmary at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre and the Dartmouth General Hospital.

Main duties of the job:
The post-holder will work clinically as a member of the liaison psychiatry service, engage in research, teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate) and/or leadership.

The post-holder will provide comprehensive psychiatric services for patients with emotional, behavioral and cognitive difficulties in the context of neurological illness four half days a week. They will also devote two half days a week to the provision of general consultation psychiatric services for patients on the medical and surgical wards. Clinical care will take place at the Halifax Infirmary at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre and the Dartmouth General Hospital, and in outpatient settings. Multidisciplinary collaboration with other physicians (psychiatrists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-physiologists family doctors etc.), clinical and academic psychologists, nurses, behavioral therapists, occupational therapists and social workers is expected.

It is the expectation that the post-holder will support training and education of medical students, residents and fellows. They will serve as a preceptor for medical learners undertaking core and elective rotations with the neuropsychiatry and consultation liaison service. They will also participate in other formal teaching and examination programs for medical learners. About half
