Facilities Assistant

**Overview**
As a member of the facilities team, the Facilities Assistant is responsible for maintaining and overseeing all the physical and mechanical components of the hospice, including the grounds surrounding the facility. Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
**Responsibilities**
- Promotes the mission, vision, values, and adheres to policies of the Foothills Country Hospice Society (FCHS), while interacting with residents, loved ones, employees, volunteers and the community.
- Conduct daily inspections of the facility to ensure that all mechanical equipment is operating as required.
- Landscaping duties, including collaboration with grounds volunteers.
- Maintain the grounds, ensure walkways to hospice, decks, pathways are free of debris, snow and ice. (note: driveway maintenance is cleared by current snow removal contractor)
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on equipment and building.
- Coordinate maintenance service and repairs pertaining to the building, related equipment, and grounds maintenance.
- Perform weekly and monthly testing of equipment
- Be a liaison person for any contractor on the premises.
- Check Maintenance (service) request forms daily and complete in order of priority.
- Attend to minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting duties as required.
- Participate in facility safety drills.
- Ensure training modules are completed and updated as required.
- On-call duties as required.
**Preferred Minimum Requirements**
- Demonstrates respect and sensitivity in dealings with residents, guests and employees and maintains patient and family rights to privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
- Facility management / maintenance experience. Preference for experience in a health care setting.
- Capable of working inside and outside of the facility.
- Ability to lift to 23kg (50 lbs.).
- Demonstrates ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
- Functions effectively as part of a team to achieve optimal results.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Hours of Work: Part-time 0.75 FTE - additional on-call shifts and sick/vacation coverage
