**VISION**:
At the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA), we celebrate and honor the safety and healing of Indigenous Women and Girls as they take up their leadership roles in the family, community, provincially, nationally, and internationally for generations to come.
**SCOPE**:
The Curriculum Specialist is instrumental in sharing these resources with Indigenous communities, community members, and ONWA's membership throughout Ontario. Additionally, they will facilitate and deliver training sessions deeply rooted in Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and values to educate and build the capacity of communities across the province.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably in Health, Indigenous Studies, Education, Social Sciences or Educational Psychology with knowledge of diverse learning principles. Masters preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years related experience working in Indigenous based curriculum development, including teaching, program and/or workshop delivery. Experience in post-secondary or government settings, and/or at the provincial and national level would be an asset.
- Proven experience in using curriculum based digital tools and a deep understanding of strength-based curriculum designs and frameworks.
- Ability to design and develop and deliver innovative curriculum through various platforms (web based, online, and in person programming) and utilizing a variety of mediums to ensure maximum learning outcomes across the province.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a team with members of ONWA.
- Must have excellent understanding of settler-colonialism, anti-oppressive practice, decolonizing methodologies, anti-racism methodologies and Indigenous teaching and learning practices.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis methods.
- Strong leadership skills and able to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Strong teaching, organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Must possess strong coordination skills and be comfortable maintaining external and internal community connections to create and provide learning opportunities for different audiences.
- Ability to promote activities, curriculum and learning opportunities to benefit all learners by enhancing their understanding and knowledge of indigenous health care needs and best practices across the life cycle from perinatal to end of life care.
- Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to maintain positive relationships with local and provincial health agencies.
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
- Capacity to solve problems and to see different perspectives.
- Ability to plan and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently with strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of Not-For Profit Organizations.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours.
- Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and valid Ontario “G” class driver’s license.
- Current, valid vulnerable sector screening. Valid 1st Aid/ CPR.
- A cellular phone and reliable internet access is required within this position.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
