Summerhill Market is a boutique grocery store chain in Toronto that specializes in scratch-made prepared foods and on-trend ingredients. Our stores go above and beyond a typical grocery store by offering an extensive rotating selection of ready to eat gourmet meals, freshly baked goodies, and curated hard to find groceries.

Summerhill Market is searching for a **Deli Clerk**, who is a foodie at heart, to provide service excellence to our customers, while working as part of a team in the Deli Department.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
The Deli Clerk is required to perform some or all of the following duties:

- Preparing, slicing, wrapping, weighing, and pricing deli products, to customer specifications (including: deli meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, dips, gourmet, party trays and hot case items)
- Inform customers about our deli & cheese products and services and help increase sales by handing out food samples and by recommending additional items to customers as appropriate
- Maintain a clean working environment at all times
- Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, product promotions, test products and advertisements
- Perform other duties as may be assigned

**Skillset Requirements**:

- Friendly and pleasant personality with exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to use scales to weigh foods and proper operation of deli equipment, including slicers and ovens
- Expert product knowledge
- Expert knowledge of products, preparation, and safe food handling
- Creative with the ability to plan and prepare new offerings exclusive to Summerhill Market
- Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 40 pounds or less
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
- Ability to work in a cold environment as required (fridge, freezer, etc.)
- Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Understanding of food and kitchen safety
