**Part-time Cook (16 - 20 hours per week).**

**The Opportunity**:

- A Part-time cook position with favourable hours in a fun and vibrant education environment.
- Mondays to Thursdays working from 9.30am to 1.30pm (approx) to prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks to our preschoolers.
- To succeed in this setting applicants must be mature, reliable and warm, with direct or comparable experience in culinary arts.

**Responsibilities**:

- Preparing daily meals and snacks for our licensed preschool program from a predetermined menu
- Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen
- Order/purchase food and kitchen supplies
- Adhering to Covid-19 protocols and policies (ie., wearing a mask, distancing)
- Planning for dietary restrictions and allergies

**Attributes**:

- Comfort working in the presence of children from PP to Gr. 9
- Good knife skills
- Ability to work to time-sensitive deadlines
- Experience working to a budget
- Knowledge of/commitment to sourcing local, sustainable food options when possible
- Ability to work closely with others
- Ability to problem-solve in a positive and professional manner

**Background Screening and Qualifications**:
All staff are required to have/acquire the background checks below. Existing search results are acceptable if issued within the last 12 months**. Can be acquired once hired**
- Child Abuse Registry check
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search

**Required Certifications**:

- Food Hygiene Course (“Food Handlers”) certificate issued within the last 5 years
- Workplace Hazardous Materials (WHMIS) Certificate**:

**Schedule**:
On-site requirements are Monday through Thursday, with additional time for food orders and shopping at the cook’s convenience. Hours depend on the distribution of tasks but range from 16-20 hours a week.

**Salary**: $14.50-$16.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
