We work collaboratively with general dentists to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care. The centre strives to provide high-quality dental care in a supportive and comfortable environment, making specialized care more accessible and less stressful for patients of all ages utilizing sedation such as: General Anesthesia, IV Sedation, Oral & Nitrous Sedation.
- Position Summary:_
As a Lead Dental Assistant in our specialty clinic, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our dental practice. Your leadership will be essential in maintaining high standards of patient care, team collaboration, and adherence to protocols. The Lead Dental Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the clinical team, managing and destination tasks, and contributing to the overall success of the specialty clinic. Your leadership will be instrumental in managing the daily setup of treatment rooms and overseeing the successful completion of various tasks. Your influence will extend beyond clinical procedures to the orchestration of tasks, ensuring that each day is optimally set up for success.
- Essential Job Functions:_
- **Clinical Leadership**: Provide guidance and support to the dental assistant team, ensuring they are well-trained and proficient in all clinical procedures relevant to the specialty clinic. Lead by example in delivering exceptional patient care.
- **Team Collaboration**: Foster a positive and collaborative working environment among dental assistants, hygienists, and other clinical staff. Encourage open communication and teamwork to enhance the overall patient experience.
- **Workflow Management**: Coordinate and optimize the daily schedule to maximize efficiency while maintaining high-quality patient care. Ensure the timely setup and breakdown of treatment rooms and adherence to infection control protocols.
- **Training and Development**: Identify training needs within the dental assistant team and facilitate ongoing education and professional development. Stay updated on industry advancements and incorporate best practices into the clinic's workflow.
- **Quality Assurance**: Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols to guarantee the highest standards of infection control, sterilization, and patient safety. Conduct periodic audits to assess compliance with established clinical procedures.
- **Patient Interaction**: Interact with patients to address concerns, answer questions, and ensure a positive experience throughout their visit. Assist in explaining treatment plans, post-operative care instructions, and any other relevant information.
- **Inventory Management**: Oversee the ordering, stocking, and organization of dental supplies, ensuring the clinic is well-equipped for daily operations. Collaborate with the administrative team to manage inventory levels efficiently.
- **Protocol Adherence**: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and protocols, including those related to patient privacy (HIPAA) and occupational safety. Work closely with the clinic manager to implement and update policies as needed.
- Essential Job Functions:_
- Assists in the provision of high-quality care within the scope of service consistent with accepted standards of care for dental assistants;
- Prepares each operatory and patient for treatment;
- Takes and prepares radiographs using conventional or digital technology;
- Provides active chairside assistance to the Dentist and anticipates the provider’s needs;
- In consultation appointments: to take proper notes and documentation into the computer software as the doctor dictates.
- At the conclusion of patient care, assists the patient, clears the work site and prepares for the next patient.
- Monitors the flow of laboratory cases.;
- Monitors and records sterilization cycles.;
- Maintains and inventories supplies;
- Helps to manage patient flow in clinic;
- Follows proper infection control protocols for the practice;
- Participates in the ongoing evaluation of Dental Program operations to assure the delivery of high-quality services that support the financial sustainability of the clinic.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises;
- Moderate physical activity.
- Requires handling average-weight objects up to 15-20 pounds
- Assisting with patients and standing and/or walking for most of the day;
- Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training;
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials
