We are seeking a forward thinking and driven **Company Security Officer (Canada). This position can be based in most GHD office locations in Canada with preference operating out of either GHD's Ottawa or Waterloo offices. **We are seeking an experienced, multitasking and self-motivated individual to lead the company’s government security compliance program. As the Company Security Officer (CSO), you will act as an important channel of communication with internal employees, senior GHD leadership as well as Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and various other security agencies. **GHD supports a hybrid work model.**

**As the Company Security Officer you will**:

- Oversee the Contract Security Program (CSP) of the Government of Canada by ensuring compliance with the Industrial Security Manual;
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of other security agencies (Provincial/RCMP);
- Maintain GHD’s company security registrations with the CSP;
- Review contracts, bids/proposals to analyze and determine security requirements related to GHD projects;
- Prepare and maintain project security plans outlining all government security regulations specific to projects;
- Develop security requirement checklists specific to subcontractors on projects;
- Stay apprised of the progress of projects by attending various internal and external meetings;
- Advise on project physical security requirements ensuring they are taken into account within the required facility(ies) and that GHD continuously meets the appropriate security guidelines set out by the CSP;
- Provide ongoing basic education and awareness of the security requirements to employees;
- Monitor risks, escalate issues and propose action plans and solutions;
- Establish and maintain working relationships with business operations to enable effective physical security policies, procedures, and support;
- Establish and train Alternate Company Security Officers to assist with security compliance as needed;
- Complete all required Company Security Officer certifications and/or training.
- Must be a Canadian citizen and possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Level II (Secret) clearance with the government of Canada;
- 4-8 years industry experience (defense and/or government);
- Working knowledge of the CSP and/or other government agency programs;
- Working knowledge of the Security of Information Act (formerly the Official Secrets Act);
- Willingness to be appointed as the Company Security Officer under the CSP;
- A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information;
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to converse in either official language with all levels of management (fluency in both official languages is an asset);
- Superior drafting, analytical, organization, time management, and task prioritization skills;
- Ability to travel as needed.
