Elementary School Office Assistant

Katimavik ES

**Position Status**: 50% Regular, 10 months per year

**Hours of Work**: Monday to Friday,10:45 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.; 17.5 hrs/week

**Salary Rate**: $19.16 to $24.48 per hour

**Effective**: ASAP

Under the direction of the Elementary School Office Administrator, the Elementary School Office Assistant assists staff, students, and the public; ensures the safety and well-being of students; supports the school office (answering phones, correspondence); maintains student and staff information (recording, monitoring, and tracking systems); assists with financial accounts; and performs other related duties to support the school office.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION**:
Familiarity with relevant legislation including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; The Immunization of School Pupils Act, and the Ministry of Ontario Student Record (OSR) Guidelines.

Familiarity with Board and school policies and procedures including Board Admissions-Enrolment Guidelines, Board Purchasing Manual;

Organizational and time-management skills are required to prioritize work.

Writing skills are required to prepare correspondence and/or reports.

Interpersonal and communication skills are required to exchange and clarify information, and to understand and respond to inquiries using tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with the public, staff and students.

Accounting skills to maintain the budget required (if applicable to the assignment)

First Aid certification and ability to administer first aid.

The qualifications and knowledge outlined above would normally be obtained through completion of a Secondary School Diploma, and 1 to 2 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Continuous upgrading of computer skills is required.
