Continuous Instructor, Digital Media and IT

NAIT’s Digital Media and IT (DMIT) program is seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, and energetic instructor with a passion for sharing expertise in narrative cinema production. Currently, the DMIT program’s Narrative Cinema Production concentration equips students with essential storytelling and technical skills needed to succeed in the rapidly growing professional fiction and nonfiction television and film industry. Students gain foundational experience in writing, producing, directing, cinematography, and post-production. As DMIT transitions next fall into multiple specialized programs—one of which will be Narrative Cinema Production— this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the evolving curriculum and help shape the future of industry-focused education at NAIT.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Prepare and present courses in both classroom and lab settings.
- Organize and supervise practical assignments.
- Conduct student evaluations and maintain progress records.
- Seek regular feedback from students and staff on instructional effectiveness and relevance.
- Participate in course review, program review and curriculum development.
- Maintain contact with relevant industries.
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues.
- Develop and revise course material and curriculum on an ongoing basis to ensure relevancy to industry standards and to maximize student success
**Skills & Abilities**:
- Experience as a film and/or television intellectual property creator.
- Experience as a producer with a background in story development, writing, and business affairs.
- Experience in technical skills including writing, producing, directing, production, and post-production.
- Experience and/or participation in industry associations, guilds, unions, or boards.
- Experience in short and long form productions.
- Experience working on corporate video productions.
- Basic understanding of the film and television industry within the global marketplace.
**Qualifications**:
- A master’s degree (preferred) or degree or diploma in a media-related program along with 5 years of related industry experience is required
- Previous teaching experience would be an asset
- Equivalencies may be considered
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
**Remuneration**: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).
