Our Downtown Vancouver cafe at 689 Thurlow Street is looking to add full-time, highly skilled and experienced baristas.

We take pride in our direct trade sourcing program and our green coffee buyer and coffee education team offer a wealth of knowledge and opportunity to learn about coffee. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**

To provide exemplary service to all patrons of the cafe and ensure excellent product quality at all times. The role includes, but is not limited to:

- Welcoming customers
- Taking orders, making product recommendations to customers and processing transactions
- Communicating special requirements to the kitchen
- Organizing stock
- Preparing and serving specialty coffee drinks including espresso-based beverages in line with 49th Parallel’s standards
- General product knowledge as it relates to recipe ingredients and potential allergens.
- Dialing-in and tasting espresso and coffees to ensure product quality
- Assisting with newer staff and helping to train on in-cafe routines
- General cleaning duties

*Other duties and special projects may be assigned from time to time.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- 1 year of experience in a hospitality / service environment
- 1 year of experience in a coffee focused position and experience preparing specialty espresso based beverages
- Get's a kick out of providing exceptional customer service
- Knowledge of coffee flavour notes and the ability to demonstrate a good palate
- Working knowledge of POS systems
- Experience providing staff training is an asset
- VERY passionate about coffee

**Salary**: $16.14-$17.43 per hour
