**Job Description**:
**Position Summary**:
- Perform extensive audits and reviews of all payroll inputs and outputs to identify payroll issues/discrepancies to ensure accuracy and compliance with legislation and hospital policies
- Collaborate with HR, Staff Scheduling, and Managers to resolve discrepancies
- Calculate monthly payroll accruals and post journal entries
- Manage and monitor reports on vacation, sick, in lieu and statutory holiday banks
- Reconcile all employee/employer deductions to general ledger
- Execute complex compensation directives including but not limited to labour-related costs
- Compile pension data and annual HOOPP member data collection report
- Analyze payroll actual to budget variances, document and forecast results
- Collaborate with financial analysts to develop staffing budget calculationsPrepare various reports and analyses including headcount, FTE data for Ministry and external reports

- Participate in payroll systems implementation including data migration preparation, workflow documentation and testing
- Assist with payroll and year-end processes and audits, including issuing T4s
- Train and mentor new staff and update payroll documentation
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to payroll processing and reporting
- Prepare additional payroll related reports and participate in special projects as assigned
**Skills and Qualifications**:
Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Payroll Administration or equivalent required
Completion of PCP from National Payroll Institute
2-4 years’ payroll experience processing a large unionized payroll is required
Working knowledge and understanding of provincial and federal pay practice legislation
Experience using Meditech and HOOPP is considered an asset
Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills with attention to detail
Advanced level Excel skills including pivot tables, V lookup
Highly organized with ability to meet strict deadlines
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively as a team member and work collaboratively- The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation.
