**The Role**:
Reporting to the AVP, Business Operations, the Operations Optimization Specialist is responsible for the advancement of operational excellence with a focus on business process design supporting the evolution of a continuous improvement culture. This role, in collaboration with business units, identifies and minimizes non-value added tasks in workflows and processes, and uses lean concepts and process improvement methodologies to optimize operational workflows. The collection of information and research insights in order to document critical end-to-end processes to identify both the current and ideal future state is a key component of this role. Demonstration of a high degree of conceptual thinking in building new processes and capabilities that do not yet exist is required to transform new ideas from ideation to operationalization. The Operations Optimization Specialist will act as a change champion, supporting the creation of change management plans as well as advocating for and helping to appropriately manage change in the business.
- Lead the research, collection of information and insights for the development of high-level critical end-to-end process mapping including identifying involved parties, dependencies, measurement criteria, work duplication, and risk controls
- Challenge the status quo by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, create process automation and recommend solutions to problems to support the re-engineering for an ideal future state
- Facilitate discussions within functional areas and oversee the design and development of detailed standardized operating procedures
- Work closely with functional areas to ensure the successful design of business cases, business requirements and supporting processes by coordinating the actions required from inception to implementation
- Collaborate with Business Operations department leadership to support the design and implementation of strategies for the creation of operational efficiencies and optimal resource deployment to address key person risk
- Act as a change champion for organizational process and workflow changes as required
- Provide varied support to Business Operations and/or other areas of the organization as requested

**Your Skills and Qualifications**:

- Post secondary education with minimum 5 years experience in a related position with a strong passion for business process improvement
- Knowledge of and proven experience with process improvement methodologies
- Proficient with using Microsoft Visio or equivalent product for detailed process mapping
- Interpersonal relationship building, listening and observational skills that promote collaboration and the ability to embrace and reinforce organizational values and culture
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and highly organized with the ability to prioritize to meet timelines
- Problem-solving, creative, and critical thinking and influencing skills
- Strong self-initiative with ability to take ownership of challenges
