**JOB SUMMARY**:
Responsible for assisting the Public Health Inspectors in the delivery of a comprehensive health and environmental program in the community. Using a variety of skills the Public Health Inspector Intern protects individual and community wellness through health promotion activities and enforcement of provincial acts and regulations.
Help to reduce the incidence of communicable disease and health hazards, perform technical assessments, provide consultative and educational services, and ensure that community development does not conflict with a healthy environment. Identify hazards in residential, recreational, commercial, social and industrial premises, provide information and training on contemporary alternatives and techniques. Respond to changing environmental issues, investigate complaints, inspect premises, assess and approve plans to ensure compliance with pertinent legislation.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
EDUCATION
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Some exposure to Public Health inspection methods and procedures through a practicum.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to the class of vehicle operated.
