Payroll and Benefits Administrator, Fully Remote

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator will be an enthusiastic team player who can make recommendations to continually improve department processes and procedures.
**What You’ll Do**
- Full cycle processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles
- Manage and maintain payroll records on various payroll systems in Canada, USA, and UK.
- Timely processing of payroll, including checking timesheet entries in accordance with the company policy
- Respond to payroll related inquiries from employees
- Process manual pay calculations and special payments
- Prepare submissions and complete monthly reconciliations (including GL accounts) for source deductions and employee benefits
- Posting payroll transactions to QuickBooks and ensuring that monthly payroll transactions are accurately reflected in appropriate balance sheet general ledger accounts
- Responsible for reviewing and processing new employees, terminations, employment changes, wage/salary changes, overtime pay, etc.
- responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.)
- continually investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and supervises and monitors benefits administration.
- Maintenance and monthly reconciliation of benefits and vacation
- Handles benefits administration and leave processes for US, Canada and UK employees
- Process various regulatory reporting, CRA fillings, payment and filing including ROEs, WSIB/WCB, Provincial Health tax remittances T4 and others.
- Handle US benefits including COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.
- Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
- Other payroll and benefits projects, related duties as assigned
**Qualifications**:
- 2+ years of full-cycle payroll processing, compliance reporting and benefits administration
- Completion of or enrolled in Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) program an asset
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or business administration
- Experience with QuickBooks, external payroll systems (e.g. Payworks, ADP, Ceridien, Trinet, BrightPay)
