Daycare Child Care Center Supervisor

**Job Overview**:
Newstead Academy Child Care (NACC) is a child centre in the beautiful community of Oak Ridges, with has a capacity of 165 students and 8 classrooms. Our aim is to provide a warm, supportive, and enjoyable working environment for our teachers and supporting staff members. We are currently looking for enthusiastic experienced Supervisor to join our team. As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing daily operations, ensuring the smooth running of our organization. This is a leadership role that requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensures the centre is operated in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014, Public Health, Fire Safety, Employment Standards Act and all other licensing regulations
- Perform all duties necessary to ensure the safety and welfare of each child
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and manage all staff (ECEs, ECAs, Chef’s, Maintenance Staff and Administrators)
- Oversee day-to-day operations in Child Care facilities which includes but is not limited to, planning special events throughout the year, enforcing enrichment programs, etc.
- Plan and implement suitable programs which ensure high quality care and meets the needs of all children, utilizing clear and concise routines, rules and limits.
- Provide leadership in the development and execution of culturally competent, inclusive and developmentally appropriate programming
- conduct family interviews and orientation to the centre
- Provide program support to staff and ensure age-appropriate programs are monitored and evaluated to meet the needs of the children and families
- Develop programs in compliance with the CCEYA
- Assessing and monitoring behaviors and/or situations that may suggest a child is at risk. Providing information, referral, and advocacy services and/or report situation to the appropriate authority as required by law.
- Monitor and evaluate program delivery for quality and to ensure the programs meet target deliverables. Maintain and monitor annual program work plans, outcome frameworks and reporting systems.
- Ensure effective communication and program collaboration. Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and policies.
- Ensure all classrooms are up to standard according to Ministry and Public Health policy.
- Conduct performance evaluations of staff as needed
- Identify and document any critical incidents and disciplinary problems
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on outputs, outcomes, reporting, staffing, statistics, and other program relevant files.
- Solicits feedback from staff and families as appropriate for strategic planning regarding program, facilities, and policies
- Considers future needs of the centre when planning
- Plans and implements professional development for all staff
- Acts as a resource to staff with respect to program planning that includes physical, social, emotional, creative and cognitive development
- Reviews program plans to ensure they meet standards
- Observes and participates in daily routines and activities to ensure continued contact with staff, children and parents
- Conducts regular staff meetings
- Implements disciplinary measures and terminates staff in consultation with the Board of Directors
- Supports staff in their jobs including interactions with children, parents and co-workers
**Skills**:
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with staff, clients, and stakeholders
- Experience working in childcare or special education settings is highly desirable
- Ability to lead and motivate a team towards achieving common goals
- Proficient in English language, both written and spoken
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques and educational principles
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role in a childcare centre
- MUST have a RECE Designation and be in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Current CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate
- All necessary up-to-date immunizations (or able to obtain a notarized Statement of Conscience or Religious Belief for immunization exemption)
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Police Check (current within 6 months, or willing to obtain)
- Working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen?, and Child Care Licensing Manual
- Basic accounting knowledge would be an asset
- Working knowledge of York Region Public Health Guidance Document
- Valid Ontario’s Drivers Licence and access to a car considered an asset
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
