Applications are invited for the position of Manager, Facilities Management Services in the Facilities Management Services department, located at the Welland Campus.
Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management Services, the Manager will be accountable in conjunction with the management team, for design, construction, operation, maintenance, renewal, protection, and planning of Niagara College facilities and sites. The Manager will ensure a safe, clean, comfortable, and accommodating learning environment for Niagara College students and staff.
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Leads a high functioning team of skilled professionals through effective recruiting, coaching, developing, training, and performance management
- Provides direction to staff and contractors to ensure appropriate service standards are maintained in the cleaning, maintenance, repair and protection of college facilities and sites
- Promotes ongoing employee professional development and continuous learning by actively exploring and identifying growth/development opportunities to support employee upskilling, cross training, and career advancement
- Ensures adherence to provisions of union agreements for all union staff
- Researches, analyzes, and develops procedures and guidelines relating to the major functions of the department (fire, security, custodial, facility and property management)
- Ensures compliance of the regulations, policies and orders of the various ministries and local emergency departments such as fire, police, building, and health
- Implements and monitors the health and safety recommendations made by the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and by the inspection teams
- Develops and coordinates an appropriate ordering, distribution, and monitoring process of supplies, tools, and equipment
- Manages the energy, waste management, and recycling programs for all facilities
- Develops tender specifications for contracted services for grass cutting, snow removal, vehicle and equipment purchases, custodial personnel, and other operational and maintenance services
- Develops and implements a preventative maintenance program
**Qualifications**:
- Three (3) year diploma/degree or trades certification, Business, Facilities Management, or a related field of study
- Minimum seven (7) years progressive experience in facilities management and supervision of unionized staff
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes, policies, and guidelines
- Advanced team building, leadership, and collaboration skills
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Working knowledge of computer software
- A valid Ontario driver’s license, class “G” and use of a personal vehicle
- Experience working in an educational setting considered an asset
