**Overview**
- The** Scale Operator** carries out the day to day scale/office operations and requirements at our Aggregates Terminals. In this role, you will be tasked with the scaling (weighing) and office duties, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of all tasks assigned. This includes computer input for the operations as they are weighed and the data recording for all activities at the scale**Responsibilities**:

- Ticketing:
- Scale (weigh) the trucks as they present, prior to loading, for tare purposes
- Scale (weigh) the trucks when loaded as they present, ensuring they are legally compliant
- Ensuring proper information is entered into the computer, including truck/hauler information, customer/quote/destination information, product, weights, etc
- Coordinating Truck Activity:
- Operating one or more scales for weighing the trucks in and out of the pit.
- Designate trucks accordingly to satisfy customer orders; in conjunction with Dispatch
- Direct truck movement in pit (for product location) and to the correct job sites
- Complete the relevant Material Tracking Sheets
- Cash Sales:
- Ensure all ‘Cash’ Sales transactions are processed correctly and in a timely manner (no cash is used, only cards - on site or by phone)
- Customer Service - dealing with customer inquiries and contracted haulers for collections of product
- Track on COD Reconciliation spreadsheet
- Office Duties (may vary depending on location):
- General office duties
- Ordering office and safety supplies
- Complete and distribute various tracking sheets as required; internally and externally
- Manage day to day paperwork; tickets, packing slips, etc
- Manage Field Level Risk Assessments
- Record contractor hours
- Maintain cleanliness of scale house and scale area
- Help with any other requests as required

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, etc and Google office is required, and cross platform experience with SAP programs considered an asset (training given)
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong problem solving
- Works well in a team environment
- Able to handle difficult issues in a positive way
- Ability to Perform in a High Pressure Environment
- Strives for continuous improvement
- Organized self-starter
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong mathematics skills
- Situation awareness, robust character
- Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Own transportation - must be reliable (most sites are remote from public transport)
- Travel may be required between Lafarge sites within Vancouver Island
- Long hours and weekend work expected (overtime rates apply), with early starts
