Claystone Waste Ltd. was established as a municipally controlled corporation in 2020 by the Town of Tofield, the Town of Viking, the Village of Ryley, the Village of Holden and Beaver County. Claystone Waste previously operated as Beaver Municipal Solutions and the Beaver Regional Waste Management Services Commission. Their landfill has been in operation since 1992 to service the waste management needs of communities within Beaver County, Alberta. The size and complexity of their operations have grown since that time, and now Claystone Waste is a western Canadian leader in waste management servicing a diverse range of municipal and industrial customers.

We are searching for a **Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator **to operate a wide variety of heavy equipment at the Ryley Landfill.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Landfill Equipment Operator will follow the established CWL policies and procedures in the execution of her/his duties, including adherence to the CWL Occupational and Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Program. Responsibilities will include:

- Performing routine assignments in the safe operation of heavy equipment used in landfill construction and maintenance, and general civil work construction and maintenance;
- Successfully operate various heavy-duty equipment with considerable care and attention (i.e. motor graders, bulldozers, heavy compactors, loaders, excavators, back-hoes, snow plows, trucks);
- Performing work assignments received from superiors, normally without close supervision. Work will be reviewed and evaluated in terms of the care exercised in operating and maintaining equipment, as well as promptness, completeness and quality with which the assigned work is performed;
- Prepare and present pre
- and post-trip documentation, as well as safety reports (near miss and incident reports) as required;
- Supporting other landfill and trucking staff and mentoring less experienced staff assigned to related work duties. This includes assistance as required during the absence of other staff due to illness, vacation or other leave;
- Other operations duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Landfill Supervisor, or designate.

The Landfill Equipment Operator will be expected to comply with all CWL plans, policies and procedures, including codes of ethics and behavior, and health, safety and environment programs, and present a professional and respectful image on behalf of CWL. This position will adhere to organizational Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) compliance and the CWL HSE program policies and procedures in the course of completing projects and assignments.

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE**
The Landfill Equipment Operator will possess:

- Considerable skills in the safe operation and use of heavy construction and landfill equipment typically used for landfills and other civil works;
- Exhibit initiative and responsibility as well as an understanding of the capabilities of the equipment being operated;
- Knowledge, skill and ability to operate equipment safely and be able to avoid accidents;
- Knowledge, skill and ability in the maintenance and servicing of the equipment at the work site, or when the equipment is in the shop for repair, servicing and/or maintenance;
- Ability to carry out written or oral instructions;
- Exhibit a high level of initiative, work performance and responsibility in the operation of equipment and the performance of duties;
- Formal trade school training in the operation of heavy construction and trucking equipment is desirable;
- Valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
The position requires daily driving of heavy equipment, in various climactic conditions, ranging from extreme cold to extreme heat. Generally, the work is in an enclosed, air-conditioned equipment cabin, but exposur
