**Position Summary**

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of all back of house activities within the Grand Theatre, including the Regina Rosen Auditorium and Baby Grand. The Production Supervisor organizes the technical requirements for all events, including pre-planning, budgeting and staffing as well as the stage setup required based on information provided by facility users. The position is also responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of professional, unionized staff (IATSE) while also supporting facility users, artists and guests who may be professional and/or amateur.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures all back of house activities within the Grand Theatre are well organized and professionally delivered

Reviews technical information, establishes costs and projects staffing based on information provided by facility users

Supports the needs of facility users from end to end, including pre-planning, load ins, set ups, presentations, take downs and load outs

Participates in production meetings on a regular basis involving staff from the Grand Theatre as well as Arts & Culture Services

Ensures the highest level of customer service is always provided

Responsible for scheduling, leading, and supervising all back of house staff and stage technicians working within the Grand Theatre

Determines the number of staff required to work at any one time and communicates staffing needs to the Union (IATSE)

Directs staff to set-up, operate and take down all technical aspects associated with an event in accordance with the information available

Demonstrates and encourages open communication, teamwork and collaboration among staff and ensues good working relations between staff and facility users, artists and guests

Supports staff recruitment and training as well as performance management, grievances, and collective bargaining where appropriate

Promotes and supports a culture of health, safety, well-being and respect in the workplace

Ensures compliance with all relevant policies and legislation to maintain a healthy, sustainable, and accident-free work environment, especially as it relates to industry specific training and certification

Ensures back of house spaces and equipment are maintained at the highest professional standards

Conducts regular safety checks and ensures all equipment is properly used, well maintained, and kept up to date

Develops and implements an annual maintenance strategy and plan

Works with the Manager, Grand Theatre, to ensure the Grand Theatre itself is well maintained, especially as it relates to back of house operations, set up and equipment

Fulfills responsibilities and manages resources in accordance with departmental budgets and procedures as well as corporate policies

Ensures the Grand Theatre’s reputation as a venue, producer and presenter is highly regarded and professional at all times

Seeks continuous improvements to meet or exceed service deliverables

Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications, Competencies**

Degree/diploma in Technical Production or equivalent experience

3 years supervisory experience within a performing arts facility, preferably in a unionized environment

Working at Heights, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Elevating Work Platforms
