Soccer / Basketball Camp Counselor

**Who Should Apply?**
STEM Montessori Academy of Canada is seeking Enthusiastic, engaging University students, previous **SOCCCER and/or BASKETBALL** Camp Counselors, Club facilitators, Instructors, or Teachers with an expertise in summer programming. STEM Canada is seeking program counselors and mentors for our summer programming.

**Shifts**:Beginning July 7 - August 22, 2025.

**Planned Start Date**: July 7 - daytime

**Weeks of Work**: 7 weeks

**ABILITY TO TEACH SOCCCER and/or BASKETBALL DRILLS AND SKILLS IS REQUIRED**

You are required to be a experienced soccer and/or basketball player who has a firm understanding of the game. **You do not have to possess experience in both of these sports, 1 sport is acceptable, however both sports is an asset and is preferred. You should also be familiar with STEM-based learning and have a passion for science, as this is a hybrid camp.**

**SOCCER DAY CAMP SHIFTS**:
**Job Length: July and August - Full time - 3 shifts available for day camp**

**8 am - 4:30 pm** - full time days - Monday to Friday**:

- must be available for these core hours**

**Other shifts**:
**7 am - 3:30 pm** - full time days - Monday to Friday (based on early drop off)
**9 am - 5:30 pm** - full time days - Monday to Friday (based on late pick up)

**ROLE DESCRIPTION**:
**DUTIES**:

- Be self-motivating and enthusiastic in carrying out the duties, fostering self-esteem, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ensure the atmosphere is inclusive, welcoming, and safe for all children.
- Provide positive role-modelling for child participants and volunteers.
- Be accepting of all children without regard to race, creed, religion.
- Assist in developing and implementing practical soccer drills and skills building programs, scrimmages, and 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 soccer games
- Designing and implementing fun challenges to motivate and reward students who make the extra effort to master a specific concept or skill both in STEM and in Soccer.
- Planning and delivering engaging and interactive **soccer, art and STEM-based lessons and activities.**:

- Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
- Must be comfortable creating meaningful content related to STEM, literacy and art.
- Collaborating with other instructors and department heads to develop and improve the summer program offerings.
- Supporting and mentoring students as they work on project and assignments.
- Provide weekly reports on your students, complete appropriate attendance records, daily log, and program plans as required.

**Requirements**:

- Vulnerable Sector police clearance check - A MUST within the last 12-months from date of issue.
- Must be available at least 5 consecutive days a week for 5 weeks from July 75,
- to August 22, 2025.
- MUST be dependable and organized
- Exhibit personal suitability and flexibility
- Have exceptional interpersonal skills
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Previous online teaching experience would be an asset.

Pay: $20.17 per hour

**Education**:

**Experience**:

- running camp programs: 2 years (preferred)
- teaching, or mentoring, camp counselor: 1 year (preferred)
- soccer playing: 2 years (preferred)
- basketball playing: 2 years (preferred)
- STEM-based Teaching: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Record Clearance) (preferred)
