**Position**:GIS and Environmental Field Technician**

**Location**: Drayton Valley, Alberta

**Reporting to**: Gen7 Project Managers

**Job Status**: Full-time employee;
- Nominal 44 hrs / week average8.8 work hrs / day
- Generally Monday-Fridays approx. 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
- Some weekends required, some late days required esp. in field season

**Compensation**:
Negotiable and competitive: $25 to $32 / hr depending on credentials, demonstrated skills, and applicable industry experience;
Paid holidays: starting at 2 to 3 weeks / year commensurate with experience;
Stat holidays: off with pay, unless a negotiated workday for time in lieu;
Overtime: Employee’s Option of Time in Lieu or Overtime pay ;

We are looking for a hard working, ambitious individual to help support and grow our GIS team by assisting in spatial data processing, analysis and map preparation, as well as collecting and interpreting field data in our various work areas. The individual will be Junior to Intermediate level, either having recently completed post-secondary education with GIS focus or having recent GIS experience through work or other. The individual is also interested in environmental science / biology-based field work and enjoys a mix of field and office at work. Environmental science, biological and/or geography knowledge would complement this individual’s GIS skills. The work must be based out of Drayton Valley, Alberta.

**Your Experience and Employment Interests**:

- Intermediary knowledge of ArcGIS Pro (Desktop) and ArcGIS online.
- Enjoy outdoor, physical work.
- Enjoy or looking to experience small town life close to crown land and the outdoors.
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as remote or isolated areas, and in inclement weather (within safe and reasonable limits).
- Familiarity with Field Maps (ESRI App), Avenza and/or other spatial mapping (field) software would be desirable.
- Experience with the main programs of Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Publisher, Teams).
- Familiarity with other GIS desktop software would be desirable.
- Valid and clean driver’s license is mandatory and all safety tickets (including First Aid, H2S, WHIMS, TDG, Ground Disturbance) would be desirable.
- A range of work experience would be considered, depending on the education of the individual.

**Your Education / Formal Qualifications**:

- A range of academic credentials would be of interest, depending on the work experience of the individual.
- Post-secondary education in a field directly related to GIS would be desirable, as would post-secondary education in a complementary field (e.g. environmental science) combined with some experience in GIS.
