**Position overview**
Are you a highly motivated individual with a passion for law and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment? Do you enjoy taking initiative and collaborating with others? If so, our growing in-house legal team is seeking a Paralegal to support our department.
Reporting to the Director, Legal Services, the **Paralegal** will provide support to the team of Legal Counsel on matters relating to corporate record-keeping, regulatory compliance, litigation and claims, contractual interpretation, and related budgets.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Prepare and maintain all required corporate filings, documents, reports and records for Vancouver Airport Authority and its wholly owned subsidiaries
- Assist Legal Counsel with correspondence to and from regulatory bodies, including reviewing correspondence received and drafting correspondence in response
- Assist Legal Counsel on business transactions, and with managing and resolving claims and litigation matters
- Liaise and communicate with 3rd parties (e.g. external legal counsel, insurance adjusters, external auditors) regarding claims and litigation matters
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including outside counsel, experts, and witnesses
- Prepare presentations and reports for senior management and internal communications on claims, litigation, and regulatory compliance matters
- Investigate potential regulatory compliance issues, analyze and report results of said investigations
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting for claims and litigation matters
**Key qualifications include**:
- Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience, ideally in an in-house corporate legal department, supplemented by diploma in Paralegal studies or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Highly proficient in Microsoft 365, Corporations Canada online filing system, BC Online, and Land Title & Survey Authority
- Experience with drafting corporate resolutions
- Experience with claims and litigation matters and preparing litigation reports preferred
- Working knowledge of corporate law, contract law and principles of tort law
- Ability to read and interpret legislation and legal documents
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting for litigation and claims matters
This is an onsite position at our office located in Vancouver International Airport in Richmond, BC, with the opportunity of a hybrid work model based on the business’ needs.
