Recreation Manager

Key Outcomes:
Ensure high levels of resident and family satisfaction as measured by Satisfaction Surveys
Ensure there are no residents with ten (10) or less engagements each month
Effectively manage and lead recreation staff to develop and maintain an engaged workforce Meet or exceed departmental budget
Key Responsibilities: Develop, plan, organize, implement, monitor and evaluate resident programs
Communicate and promote resident engagement in programs to improve the resident experience Maintain high quality documentation standards including assessments, resident success in programs and feedback detailing individual engagement
To contribute to the information shared at Resident Care Conferences from a programming perspective
Ensure continuous quality & risk management initiatives are implemented and reviewed via program evaluation and audits
Adhere to regulatory requirements; know and promote Resident Bill of Rights Assist in the development of the recreation budget and monitor expenditures
To be responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, supervision, performance evaluation and recognition of recreation staff
To be responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, supervision, and recognition of volunteers as required Coordinate and support contracted service providers and alternative therapies
Promote and support community engagement opportunities
To encourage employee engagement, motivation and development Comply with Human
Resource processes; assist in grievance process, labour relations and contract negotiations as required Enforce recreation staff compliance with policies & procedures
Follow and adhere All other duties as assigned
University degree or College diploma in Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation OR University degree or College diploma in Recreation or Leisure studies with a minimum of three (3) University or College Therapeutic Recreation courses
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a health care setting
Minimum (2) years experience in programming planning, implementation, documentation and evaluation in a senior's care setting
Knowledge of community resources and service development
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Effective leadership and management skills
Proficiency in Activity Pro, Point Click Care, RAI-MDS and care planning is considered an asset
Passion and focus on the person centered approach
Valid Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months)
