The Geography Department is excited to contribute courses for two new degrees within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences starting in the Fall of 2025: the Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Sciences) and the Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Studies). These degrees will be housed within the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies. Courses for these degree programs will be taught at Capilano University’s North Vancouver and Squamish campuses.

**About the role**

The instructor will initially teach core physical geography courses in weather and climate at the undergraduate level and may be asked to teach or develop other courses in physical geography/ earth sciences relevant to their area of expertise. Duties include:

- Prepare and deliver courses, including lectures, seminars, labs and field trips.
- Evaluate student learning through assessments and marking.
- Provide support to students through weekly office hours and advising.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain expertise and stay current with advancements and best practices in relevant fields of study.
- Creating and updating course materials, outlines and curriculum.
- Participating in meetings, committees, and events at the program, department, faculty, and university levels.

**GEOG** 114 Weather and Climate**
- o Section 01: Mondays and Wednesdays, 8.30-11.30am
- o Section 02: Mondays and Wednesdays, 2.30-5.30pm
- o Section 03: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-4pm
- Physical geography lab science courses are 1.33 section workload (total workload = 4 sections) with 4 hours of lectures and 2 hours of labs per week scheduled in 2 × 3 hour blocks/ per class.
