Flag Person/Traffic Controller
A traffic control person's main role is to Stop, Slow and safely direct traffic through a work zone or construction site. Protect workers in the construction zone by regulating traffic. The flaggers must but are not limited to informing motorist of possible detours, reporting disobedient drivers to law enforcement, and answering motorists’ questions.
To be successful as a Flagger, you should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team. Ultimately, a top-notch Flagger should demonstrate sound knowledge of traffic regulations as well as exceptional observation skills.
Flaggers Responsibilities:
Using hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic around road construction sites.
Communicating with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic into single lane.
Informing the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety.
- Appropriately positioning.
- Assisting the work crew in the removal of rubble, debris, and hazards.
- Recording the license plate numbers of motorists who neglect to obey traffic signs, signals, and directions.
- Company certification or through ACSA.
- The ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- The ability to work as a team member.
- The ability to work in harsh weather conditions.
- Profess organizational and problem-solving skills
- Report all incidents, near misses to the company safety
- Follow the company health and safety manual.
- Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months
Part-time hours: 40 per week
**Salary**: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
Additional pay:
- Overtime pay
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Overtime
- Weekend availability
