Each day, FortisAlberta employees strive to exceed customer expectations while maintaining a focus on our commitment to safety. **APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 11** **TITLE**: Operations Lead (U24-066) **DEPARTMENT**: Operations **WORK LOCATION/OFFICE**: Westlock **HOURLY WAGE**: $69.36 **UUWA PAYSCALE**: L3 **STATUS**: 01 Full Time - Salaried **NUMBER OF HIRES**:1 **DESCRIPTION**: **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to)**: - Work safely in accordance with policy’s regulations and procedures. - Provide input into the prioritization and scheduling of work by the Field Scheduler. - Construct, maintain, repair, or troubleshoot the electric distribution system (both overhead and underground). - Complete assigned construction, operations, and asset management work on the electric distribution system. - Perform live line work. - Draft switching plans and perform switching. - Perform power line inspection patrols. - Provide quick and courteous customer service for trouble calls or power interruptions. - Provide hands-on coaching to PLTs, Apprentices and other team members. - Provide input and assistance during restoration and maintenance programs, such as arranging third party services, coordinating First Calls, and developing and managing maintenance programs. - Assist in the implementation of new work methods and/or procedures. - Provide guidance and feedback to Apprentices and PLTs in their individual development and performance, this may include providing input to the Supervisor Field Operations for performance appraisals. - Provide technical guidance and support to PLTs pertaining to work methods and/or procedures. - Contribute to operations procedure and standard improvements as required. - Designate - Cable Fault Locating, Cable ID, Line Apparatus, Very Low Frequency (VLF) Testing. - Special projects and other duties as assigned. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**: - Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal customers and team members; this includes good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. - Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team or independently as an individual contributor. - Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to manage numerous projects and competing demands. - Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices. **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**: - A journeyman power line technician certificate plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience, including two (2) years of operations experience is required. - Current FortisAlberta System Switching certification is required. - Current FortisAlberta Substation Switching certification is required. - FortisAlberta Live Line certification, or the ability to obtain Live Line certification within six (6) months of the position start date is required. - A valid Alberta Class 3 driver’s license with an air brake endorsement is required. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**: - Experience in a leadership role within FortisAlberta would be considered an asset. - Additional trade certifications, certificates, diplomas, or degrees in a related discipline would be considered an asset. **SPECIAL CONDITIONS**: - Business needs dictate that you must live within fifty (50) kilometers of the assigned service point office or a distance that allows a maximum forty (40) minute response time to the assigned service point office. - Participation in after hours and weekend standby rotation is required. - Travel away from home overnight may be required. **TO APPLY TO THIS POSITION**: Please submit your resume via the button below: "Apply"
