As a Supervisor-Compute, Storage & Backup within our ITS Infrastructure and Data Centre Operations Department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives related to the management and optimization of both physical (Cisco UCS) and virtual (VMware & Azure) computing resources, data storage solutions, and backup systems. You will ensure the efficient, reliable, and secure operation of all infrastructure components, working closely with cross-functional teams to meet organizational objectives.

**What will your typical day look like?**
- Leads, motivates, and develops a team of professional and technical staff. Provides staff development and training, establishes performance standards, conducts performance evaluations, and has direct input into hiring decisions. Takes responsibility for team results and oversees the day-to-day operational management of the team.
- Implements and maintains appropriate operational processes and performance reporting procedures to maintain an efficient and effective operational capability.
- Serves as project coordinator for infrastructure projects or as the point of contact for other projects requiring configuration, modification, and upgrades to the IT infrastructure.
- Recommends and performs infrastructure improvements, including upgrades and patching, and ensures that infrastructure best practices are implemented and followed.
- Leads teams during infrastructure improvement work. Motivates and engages team members, conveys clear expectations for assignments, and holds subordinates accountable for achieving their goals.
- Develops long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure continues to meet organizational requirements. This includes research, recommendations, and implementation of standards.
- Participates in creating and evaluating RFPs and tenders and participates in negotiations with vendors and contractors.
- Develops Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal and external providers or vendors for maintaining operational efficiencies.
- Develops business case justifications and cost/benefits analysis for the IT infrastructure spending and initiatives.
- Creates and reconciles procurement documents for goods/services or the maintenance/support renewals for the infrastructure, including budgeting/forecasting analysis.
- Monitors budget spending of specific projects and alert the manager if there are any issues.
- Effectively manages and oversees all third-party vendors and contracts, including vendor support personnel; manage on-site vendors and related security clearance.
- Oversees the installation and maintenance of the appropriate equipment, software, or tools and ensures that processes are maintained to provide uninterrupted operational capabilities, ensuring documentation is created and maintained. This includes ensuring accurate inventory controls (hardware and software licensing).
- Establishes procedures for problem escalation with appropriate support groups, both internal and external.
- Ensures appropriate physical/environment/data and systems security measures are in place for all the infrastructure components.
- Ensures that all assets are properly tracked, maintained, and utilized in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Maintains a high level of technical knowledge of industry trends and products.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

**You are someone with**:

- A University Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Information Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- One or more of the following or equivalent certifications required:
a. Azure Administrator Associate.
b. VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
c. Pure Certified: Data Storage Associate.
d. Pure FlashArray Architect Associate.
e. Pure FlashBlade Architect Associate.
f. DCS-SA: Systems Administrator.
g. Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
h. AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
- One of the following or equivalent certifications preferred:a. Project Management Professional (PMP).b. PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
- A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in an Infrastructure environment with specific emphasis on: Data Center Operations, Data Center virtualization using VMWare technologies, Data Center Storage Array using HPE or NetApp or Dell EMC or IBM or Pure or Equivalent storage array, Data Center Compute using Cisco UCS, HPE or Dell EMC or Lenovo or Equivalent blade servers and Data Center Backups using Veeam, or Dell EMC Avamar, or IBM TSM backup system, or Commvault Metallic, or Equivalent data protection system.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Blade servers, VMWare virtualization, Storage Arrays, Data Protection, Microsoft Windows Server, MSSQL Server and Linux Server.
