Reporting to the Director, Risk and Legal, the **Staff Lawyer** at Lindsay is responsible for assisting with developing, implementing, and maintaining risk management practices that enable Lindsay Construction to make risk-effective decisions.

You will be responsible for assist the Director in identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and monitoring the company’s operational risk, with specific focus on insurance, contracts, and compliance.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Here are the types of things you’ll be responsible for in this role:_
- Drafting and revising internal company policies
- Reviewing and advising on contracts
- Coordinate insurance claims
- Conduct legal research and prepare reports and presentations
- Assist with internal risk-related training
- Help ensure compliance with risk mitigation policies and procedures
- Collaborate with external counsel and advisors as directed
- Assist with responding to legal and compliance inquiries from key stakeholders
- Interpret and report on legislation, regulations, and other legal requirements

**Job Requirements**
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- Member in good standing of a provincial/territorial bar association, and eligible for membership in the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society
- 0-2 years’ experience practicing law
- Note: while experience is preferred, all interested and motivated applicants are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- High degree of attention to detail
- Interest and/or experience in the construction industry is an asset
